*Unrest in Bangladesh..*
High alert has been issued at the Indo-Bangladesh border to control the effects of ongoing unrest in Bangladesh. Banerjee agrees to Modi’s decision regarding this situation. The CM of West Bengal said that both the governments of India and Bangladesh are keeping close tabs on the situation. She also said “We will follow the instructions of Government of India. I will request every political party to leave the issue to Indian Government. Both the government will look after the citizens who might face trouble in wake of the sudden situation.”
The agitation broke out on Sunday morning when the protestors were attending the non cooperation program under the banner of ” Students against discrimination with one point demand of government’s resignation over the job quota system, it faced opposition from the supporters of Awami League, Chhatra League and Jubo League activists. At least more then 100 people have been killed in this clash, shooting and counter chases across Bangladesh
surrounding the non cooperation programme, reported a leading Bengali newspaper Prothom Alo.
She said to the media persons in the state assembly “I would appeal to all the citizens of all communities of West Bengal to maintain peace and avoid all forms of provocation and refrain from taking law into own hand”. She further added that since Bangladesh is a separate country, the Ministry of External affairs will comment on it.
According to Diplomatic sources Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh Prime Minister who resigned on 5th August following unprecedented anti-government protests, landed at the Hindon airbase in Ghaziabad as a part of her plan to go to London. Sheikh Hasina ‘s younger sister Sheikh Rehana is also with her. She landed at the airbase in the military transport aircraft of Bangladesh Air Force the National Security Advisor Avijit Doval met her, the source said.
