BBMP’s IT Team had launched the FixMyStreet app in 2017 in order to let the public directly connect with their ward engineers and elected representatives regarding pothole fixtures.
BENGALURU: BBMP’s app FixMyStreet is expected to be operational from Jan 1, 2023 onwards. Bengalureans can download the app from Playstore and Appstore. Using this app, they can report potholes in the city.
Starting on Monday, the public will be able to use the smartphone application “FixMyStreet” to report potholes on city streets to the BBMP. In addition to reporting potholes, the app will immediately create a work order to repair them after receiving approval from a local authority.
Post review meeting with zonal officers, BBMP Commissioner Tushar Girinath said that the citizens could use the app from Monday. “If the pothole is new, it will have to be certified by the jurisdictional assistant engineer. Once certified, the work order gets generated automatically. In case of major roads, it will go to the ‘Python’ contractor, who has been entrusted with maintenance of 182 km of arterial and sub-arterial roads. In case of other stretches, the work order will get sent to the hot mix plant,” he added.

Several complaints were used that obstructed usage by citizens. Due to technical glitches, it was closed in 2019. It was, however, accessible internally by the civic officials.
The zonal civic authorities have been given till Thursday to photograph and map every pothole that falls within their respective jurisdictions. This information will then be fed into the app. The Chief Civic Commissioner further stated that he had instructed the executive engineers to have 5% of the zonal chief engineers and 1% of the zonal Special Commissioners cross-check 30% of the pothole patching operations in their respective jurisdictions.
