West Bengal government’s “Duare Sarkar” received the “Platinum Icon” award which is the highest category of award at the Digital India Awards set up by Centre’s Ministry of Electronics & IT(Meity).
This was held on 7th January at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. Minister of State Finance (independent charges) Chandrima Bhattacharya received the award on the behalf of the state government from honourable President Droupadi Murmu.
Duare Sarkar (government at doorstep) is amongst one of the many successful initiatives run by the state government to deliver various government run services to the denizens of West Bengal. This scheme was initiated on 1st December 2020 and is flawlessly monitored through the Duare Sarkar portal. Under this unique model the camps were being organised to reach out to the different corners of West Bengal and it had five phases. The camps were organised at the Gram Panchayat and Municipal Ward Levels. The fifth edition of Duare Sarkar was concluded on 31st December 2022, where there were submission of more than 1.07 crore applications by the citizens. During this time span total of 82,345 camps were organised.
The camp helped people to get access to various kind of welfare schemes like Sabuj sathi, kanyashree, Khadya Sathi, Rupashree, health insurance, pension, scholarship, assured income for farmers. Sabuj Sathi is an initiative for the students of state run school and madrasah in which by cycles were distributed with an aim to empower students. Kanyashree is a scheme to improve the status and wellbeing of girls from the weaker section of the society. Incentives were given to families for encouraging the education of the girl child and not marrying them off at an early age. Khadya Sathi is a scheme which helps eradicate the hunger by issuing digital ration card. Rupashree is a scheme where one time financial grant is provided to eliminate the dowry and gender based violence. At present there are 18 schemes which are addressed in Duare Sarkar.
