Kolkata geared up well to witness the first international match of this year. The arrangements of lights and laser shows were made at the iconic Eden Gardens ground to give a different feel to the spectators. The ground was made ready by spraying dew dispersant so as to prevent the formation of the dew. Later a tribute was also paid to the football legend Pele.
There have been tight security arrangements throughout at the ground with least possible movements of vehicles. The cheering fans were left disappointed when the security tightened and fans were asked not to stand in front of the club house as the team India’s bus entered. This incident couldn’t put down the enthusiasm level of the cheering fans.
After winning the toss Sri Lanka decided to bat first and set target of 215 which Indian team very easily managed to achieve in 43.2 overs (219/6). India won the second ODI by 4 wickets and the series is sealed 2-0.
Best bowling tactics from India were exhibited by Mohammed Siraj and Kuldeep Yadav. KL Rahul’s half century added weightage to the game. Initially India looked bit shaky but soon the scenario changed with the partnership of KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya. Lahiru Kumara along with Karunaratne
from Sri Lanka showed some cool bowling moves. Veteran cricketers Sourav Ganguly and Ajit Agarkar were also spotted at the stadium.
