The much awaited sequel to James Cameron’s box-office shattering behemoth Avatar is finally headed to the the biggest screen.
Avatar: The Way of Water has been thirteen years in the making and looks to be worth the wait. Avatar released in 2009 and went on to become the highest grossing movie of all time, dethroning Titanic, another epic helmed by James Cameron, which had graced the top spot before that for several years. Avatar grossed approximately 2.7 billion dollars at the box-office, and though there has not been much word on early tracking, it wouldn’t be a stretch to consider that The way of water will go the way of its predecessor and make even more money.
James Cameron is a bonafide stalwart when it comes to blockbusters. He is responsible for the success of some of the biggest franchises in Hollywood, Terminator, Avatar and even Aliens. If anyone can bring in big bucks and put people in theatre seats, it’s Cameron.
Avatar: The Way of Water features the planet of pandora established in the earlier film. But this time around, James Cameron is exploring the waters of the world. Cameron is known for his deep sea expeditions, especially his expeditions to the Mariana Trench. Whatever the case may be, it is no doubt that the film is a visual spectacle. And if it continues on its current course; it might very well see Cameron back at the top of the box-office.
